Guide to Removing Embarrassing Mattress Stains

Blood

Bloodstains happen from shaving, small cuts, injuries, nose bleeds, periods and more. Blood stains shouldn’t be left to deal with later. Older blood stains are difficult to remove versus fresh ones. Hydrogen peroxide or borax solution can be used to pretreat the stain. After a minimum of 10 minutes a wet cloth to surface clean the stain. Tougher stains may require ammonia but it is unpleasant smelling.

Urine

Urine has dye like qualities and can’t be removed entirely. For fresh stains try to soak up as much as possible with paper towels. For best results have the mattress professionally cleaned and have them use enzyme treatment.

Vomit

Accident happen when you’re sick or had a night of partying. To clean up vomit first use baking soda to deodorize and dry up the stain. Use a vacuum to remove the dry mess. This stain requires steam cleaning to disinfect and deodorize the mattress effectively.

Snot

If you’ve had a cold some snot may have stained your mattress. This can be easily moved with hot water and a microfiber cloth. Be sure to wring the cloth carefully so you don’t over soak the mattress material.
